Introducing Yung Trybez and Young D, the two musical talents behind raucous hip-hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids. Hailing from British Colombia’s Haisla Nation, the pair have been bubbling under ever since they first formed back in 2016. With plenty of tunes under their belts already, including 2019’s “TRAPLINE” and this year’s “Born Deadly” EP, the pair are back to grace our eardrums with more eye-opening tunes.

Their new track, “Screaming Indian” was first conceived in a jam session nearly two years ago, with producer Tarun Nayar at the fore. After stewing on the song for a while, not quite sure what was needed to complete the intrinsic mix of punchy beats and lyrical spitfire, it wound up in the hands Surrey-based South Asian trap wave producer, Skinny Local, who gave it the finishing touches you can hear today.

Having wrote the track whilst compiling tracks for their third album, “TRAPLINE” (an endeavour that aimed to extend bridges to other marginalised communities) a summer of demonstrations for Black Lives Matter have made it’s subject matter all the poignant. “Screaming Indian” derives from a retired logo from baseball team Atlanta Braves, that was also referred to as the ‘Screaming Savage.’ “They were forced to retire it because of the obvious outrage from Indigenous activists who viewed the logo as racist and harmful to our people,” says Yung Trybez.

“The Braves ‘retired’ the logo in 1989 and tried to bring it back in 2013 as a batting practice logo; that is what sparked the idea for us. The world we live in moves fast and people forget quickly. We need to remind ourselves of where we come from and remind the world of what they’ve done to our lands and people. In this song we reclaim and embody the ‘Screaming Indian’.”
