Montreal-based psych-pop group Elephant Stone have shared their haunting new video for “The Court and Jury,” off of their forthcoming album Hollow, due out February 14 via Fuzz Club, and we are pleased to premiere it. The video features an arresting cut-out style animation that tells the story of an intergalactic judgment. The track itself is a brief, but powerful tune flushed with sitar and finger picked acoustic that recalls a darker time in human history, while the vocals drenched in vocoder saturation sound like a fateful decree from the future. Check out the video, as well as single art below.

Director Rachel Blumberg had this to say about the making of the video in a statement to Under the Radar: “I imagined our future dystopia, humans as clones of each other, all freedoms a memory of the past, in a landscape of fury and fire. The main character has a glimpse of perspective, which fades in greeds grasp. A court decides the fate of those left on earth, who will stay and who will go. In the end, it is the wealthy and powerful that are allowed to leave this damaged planet. Those left are angry and point fingers, they have already become ghosts. A spaceship takes the wealthy and powerful to their new planet.”

In support of the album Elephant Stone will head out on a lengthy Winter UK and Europe tour, which will include an EU album release show at London’s Moth Club on February 14th.
